The National Distribution Union is one of the biggest private sector unions in New Zealand with a membership of 20,000+. We are made up of four sectors (click on links above to find out more about sectors) and have members in many different industries. Most of our membership is concentrated in the North Island which reflects where we have branch offices. We have a National Executive made up of regional and sector representatives which manages the union. Our National Secretary, National President, Regional Secretaries and Sector Secretaries are responsible for the day-to-day running of the union and carrying out national executive decisions and union policy. As well as our organising and administration staff we have staff lawyers, education officers and a publicity officer. We have just established a Growth Unit which has a team of three organisers who are dedicated to recruitment. Our National Executive has elected representatives made up of regional and sector representatives who govern the union and about half are rank and file members. Our union knows that active delegates are vital in all decision making levels of our union and there are steps you can take to further your involvement.

We are affiliated to the NZ Council of Trade Unions and we are also affiliated to international organisations through our sectors.
